Several arrested during police raid in Linden

A POLICE raid in MacKenzie, Amelia’s Ward, Block 22, One Mile and Silver Town, resulted in the arrest of nine persons, who were caught with marijuana and who are wanted by the police for various offences.

The raid was led by Commander of ‘E’ Division (Linden and Kwakwani), Fazil Karimbaksh, who executed 15 search warrants. Carl Simmons, 30, of Berbice Road, Mackenzie was searched at Powis Crescent and found with five grams of cannabis; he appeared at the Linden Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, where he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 100 hours community service.

Kahlil Mustaf, 21, of Wismar was searched at MacKenzie Market area and found with 16 grams of cannabis; he had also escaped from lawful custody. Mustaf pleaded not guilty and was remanded to prison.

Vernon Arthur, 57, of Wisroc Extension, was searched at the MacKenzie Market area and three grams of cannabis were found in his possession. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 50 hours of community service.

Kevon Chester, 30, of Central Amelia’s Ward was searched at Powis Crescent, Amelia’s Ward and found with 11 grams of cannabis; he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 100 hours community service.

Shawn Allen, 23 of Amelia’s Ward, was searched at Powis Crescent, Amelia’s Ward and nine grams of cannabis were found in his possession. He pleaded not guilty and was placed on $45,000 bail.

Additionally, Ryan Samuels, 35, of Central Amelia’s Ward was searched at his home, where police found 3.5 grams of cannabis. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 100 hours community service. Leon Ross, 22, of Wismar Housing Scheme was searched at MacKenzie where police found four grams of cannabis; he also pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 100 hours community service.

Meanwhile, Eon Jermein Anderson of Alstron Alley, Wismar, was arrested for break and enter and larceny, committed on the dwelling house of Lance Mc Calmon at Christiansburg, Wismar, Linden. He pleaded not guilty and was remanded to prison.

Julius Branker, 19, of Central Amelia’s Ward, was arrested and charged with break and enter and larceny, with intent to steal, committed on the dwelling house of Deanna Emanuel of Central Amelia’s Ward. He was also charged with burglary committed on the dwelling house of Marquita DeSouza of Central Amelia’s Ward, where he stole $32,000. He pleaded not guilty to both charges and was remanded to prison.
