Bandits attack MMA guards

Police are investigating an incident in which the guards at the Mahaica/Mahaicony/Abary-Agricultural Development Authority (MMA/ADA) head office at Onverwagt, West Coast Berbice, was robbed early Thursday morning.

‘B’ Division Commander Ian Amsterdam told the Guyana Chronicle from initial reports the robbers carted off personal cash and cell phones from the security personnel on duty.

He could not say more since sleuths were still interviewing employees of MMA/ADA.

The Guyana Chronicle understands that bandits gained entry to the compound but their efforts to break-in the said building were thwarted by the alert guards. However, the robbers pounced on the guards instead taking away valuables before they escaped.  General Manager of MMA/ADA Aubrey Charles could not be reached for a comment on the incident and employees were tight-lipped on Thursday.
