Police have arrested a man who is allegedly the mastermind
behind the plot to rob and kill a Corentyne businessman.
According to a police source, the man was apprehended
while he was returning from neighbouring Suriname early Saturday morning.

The man is said to be of Jamaican descent and is currently being
grilled by ranks to ascertain the motive behind the alleged hit.

On Thursday last, police arrested another man after an alert detective
noticed he was acting suspiciously. The man,Cordell Fraser, 24, was
arrested by the lawman after he was found with a .38 revolver with
four matching rounds.
During interrogation, the man revealed to ranks that he was allegedly hired by the Jamaican apprehended on Saturday to execute the businessman over unpaid debts.

The businessman,who owns and operates a clothing and footwear store in
Berbice, has since maintained that while he knows the Jamaican and
they are friends, they have never done any business together, as such, he
does not owe him or anyone money.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
