GUYANA Water Incorporated (GWI) has fixed a broken transmission main at Cemetery Road, which caused a recent disruption in Georgetown.In a statement on its Facebook page, GWI announced that the main was replaced last evening and services have been restored.
It was previously reported that residents of Central Georgetown were experiencing a disruption of water services, which was expected to last until 06:00hrs on Thursday, February 23, 2017.
“This is to facilitate repairs on a ruptured transmission main at Cemetery Road, Georgetown, which has also resulted in a disruption to traffic along Cemetery Road,” stated GWI.
That problem was nevertheless resolved, but in a recent statement, GWI announced that customers from Eccles to Covent Garden, East Bank Demerara are expected to face a disruption of service due to urgent maintenance works.
