Clueless – Essequibo crash to another 10-wicket defeat

– Bowled out for 20 against Demerara

ERRATIC Essequibo female senior cricket team suffered another embarrassing defeat in round two of the GCB Female Inter-County one-day cricket tournament against their Demerara counterparts yesterday at the Everest Cricket Club ground.

Another dismal batting performance saw them being bundled out for 20 in 8.1 overs.
If the Cinderella County side were lacklustre in Thursday’s opening loss to Berbice, they slipped to the level of the indifferent yesterday, allowing Demerara a comfortable 10-wicket victory.

On a pitch which held no terrors, Keesha Tucker made an unbeaten 14, while Estel Lewis and Devina Buer, both made one, but the other eight batters failed to score on a good pitch.
Player-of-the-match Akazy Thompson took 6-8 from 4.1 overs, while Heme Singh claimed 2-12 off four overs.

Demerara needed just 3.4 overs to complete the win, with June Ogle and Mandy Mangru remaining unbeaten on 11 and seven respectively.
The final round is billed for today between Demerara and Berbiec at the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) ground.
