Helena No. 2 villagers call for road to be repaired

RESIDENTS of Helena Number 2 Village, Mahaica, are calling on the relevant authorities to fix their roads.

Apart from having large potholes, it was pointed out to the Guyana Chronicle that a section of the main access road is beginning to sink.

One villager explained that, “We are having serious problems with the road, especially when it rains and the potholes are filled with water… and now that the road sinking, I don’t know what will happen when the rice trucks start moving up and down.”

And, given that the sinking section is situated close to the Stelling and market district, vendors feel more threatened as to how they will traverse if the problem is not addressed soon.

Some of the individuals stressed that they depend heavily on their sales to maintain a livelihood, so, the urgency of the matter is high.
