Decomposed body of retired GDF member found

The decomposed body of a retired member of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) was discovered at his at Lot 38 Stanleytown, New Amsterdam, Berbice, home on Monday evening.

Ranks from Central Police Station discovered the corpse of 70-year-old Ernest Reynolds, following reports of a foul smell emanating from the house where he resides.
A neighbour, Gavin Sankar, said he became uncomfortable with the obnoxious scent and was under the impression that it was the dead animal on the road way. However, even though the animal was removed, the odour remained and he decided to make a report to the police station.

Sankar recalled that it has been a while since he saw Reynolds, who lived alone; he called out for him several times and did not get a response. The police ranks broke the door and discovered the maggot-filled decomposed body of the pensioner.
Sankar said he shared meals with Reynolds who became withdrawn lately and had in recent times, refused to accept any assistance. Reynolds never married and does not have any children.
