2017 Budget for December 5 reading – Granger

THE APNU+AFC coalition government will present the 2017 National Budget on December 5 this year. The announcement was made by President David Granger when he addressed indigenous leaders from 212 communities across the country at the meeting of the National Toshaos Council (NTC) on Monday at the Arthur Chung Convention Centre.
The Head of State said Government was ensuring and maintaining adequate preparation in tandem with its planning mechanisms.
The first budget under the one-year-old government was presented on August 10, 2015 under the theme: “A Fresh Approach to the Good Life in a Green Economy.”
Less than 10 months later, on January 29, the $230B Budget for 2016 was presented in the National Assembly by Finance Minister Winston Jordan under the theme “Stimulating Growth, Restoring Confidence: The Good Life Beckons.”

$40.3B were allocated in the 2016 budget for the Education Sector; $28B for the Public Health Sector; $24B for Public Security; $20.3B for the Agriculture Sector; $15.8B for Housing and Water, and $14.4B for Public Infrastructure.
