Over 115 fatal accidents recorded

…more than 60,000 persons charged

STATISTICS released by the Guyana Police Force (GPF) have revealed that there is an 11% increase in fatal accidents, with 115 fatalities recorded at the end of November, compared to 112 for the same period last year.
However, there were decreases in serious and minor accidents, but damage accidents have increased.

“Enforcement is continuous countrywide, with special emphasis on driving under the influence of alcohol; speeding; music/breach of condition of road service licence; overloaded mini-buses, and use of cellular phones,” a statement from the Force noted.
A total of 65,357 persons have thus far been charged with traffic offences for this year, and about 55% of those persons have paid their fines. A breakdown of the cases follows:
