Prompt action by ranks of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) resulted in the capture of an alleged bandit who along with another individual, allegedly attempted to enter someone’s yard in Aubrey Barker Road, South Ruimveldt, Georgetown.

According to eye witnesses, at around 15:00h on Thursday, two men, one of whom was armed with a gun, tried entering someone’s yard, but were ambushed by members of the force.

This newspaper understands that there was an exchange of gunfire between the police and suspected bandits, however no one was injured. During the ordeal, the bandits decided to part ways on foot through nearby bushes.

However, moments later the ranks were able to nab one of the alleged bandits who claimed that he was the wrong person.

Meanwhile, the hunt continues for the other individual, whom residents identified as “Dexter,” a vagrant who lives in the area.
