Guyana names strong contingent for RAN 7’s

THE Guyana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) has named its final male and female squads for the 2016 Rugby America’s North (RAN) 7’s series this weekend in Trinidad and Tobago.
Patrick King, Osei McKenzie, Avery Corbin, Rickford Cummings, Ryan Gonzalves, Dwayne Schroeder, Blaize Baily, Peabo Hamilton, Devin Hooper, Devin Hooper, Kevin Mc Kenzie, Ronald Mayers, Lancelot Adonis and Vallon Adams have been named.
Robin Roberts is the team manager with Kenneth Grant-Steuart as head coach and Barrington Brown as the physiotherapist.
On the distaff end, Lotoya Cordis, Collette Hope, Carren Skeete, Abioce Heywood, Sabola Gray, Tiffany Pilgrim, Natasha Andrews, Cloetta Dublin, Alicia Mentore, Sasha James, Shonette Mc Farlane and Ashanti Carrington will represent Guyana.
Petal Adams is their team manager with Theodore Henry as head coach and Abiola Blair as pPhysiotherapist
Guyana’s senior men’s team is currently ranked 54th in the world while the women’s team ranked 27th in World Rugby. The ranking of the teams playing in 2016 Rugby Americas North (RAN) Sevens Championship is subject to change over the weekend.
The pool draw which was released recently, has 14 nations in the men’s event where the teams have been divided into two groups of four and two groups of three.
Guyana’s Green Machine will be up against Jamaica, Turks and Caicos and Martinique in Group D.
In the women’s category with two groups of five, Guyana’s team will be in Group B with the hosts, Mexico, Bahamas and the Dominican Republic.
