Woman busted with cocaine strapped to legs

A WOMAN is in police custody after she was caught with 668 grammes of cocaine as she was about to board the back-track route for Suriname located at Springlands, Corriverton. The substance was reportedly strapped to her legs.According to a police source the woman, who gave her address as South Ruimveldt, Georgetown, was caught around 15:30hrs and escorted to the Springlands Police Station where she remains in custody pending charges.
The back-track route is known to be a trans-shipment point for drugs and other illegal substances which has prompted the authorities to increase their presence. Though the method of leaving Guyana’s shores to Suriname is deemed illegal, there is a presence of customs officers and police ranks who vet incoming and outgoing passengers.
