NINETEEN-year-old Nicholas Hercules of Lot 44 Princes Street, Georgetown, was on Friday committed to stand trial in the High Court after the conclusion of the preliminary inquiry into the murder of Carlos Solomon. City Magistrate Judy Latchman told the court that based on the evidence, a prima facie case was made out against Hercules. The city magistrate said the teen will face trial at the High Court during the next sitting of the Demerara Assizes.
According to the police, on April 1, while residing at the same location, Solomon and Hercules reportedly had a misunderstanding which resulted in Hercules stabbing Solomon to his armpit. The victim was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) where he succumbed.
Hercules had alleged that he was injured by Solomon.
