GHDS, East Bank Demerara Praant, Diwali motorcade, cultural show billed for Saturday

THE Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha (GHDS), East Bank Demerara Praant, will be hosting their annual Diwali Motorcade and Cultural Show on Saturday at the Diamond Market Tarmac, Diamond New Housing Scheme.
However, there is controversy again this year over the date for the celebration of the festival of lights (Diwali).
Fifteen floats are expected to participate in the motorcade which is expected to leave Timehri, E.B.D., at 5:00 pm. The floats will be assembling at G3 building where the first phase of the judging would be conducted, according to a GHDS press release.
For the cultural show, there would be several attractions, including Prince Wazir & Band, Nachgana Dance Academy, artists from various mandirs and a special appearance by Ms India-Guyana, Britney Singh.
Meanwhile, admission is free but no alcohol is allowed, the release added.
