… Lower Corentyne lead after round one

ROUND two in the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Jaguars Franchise League Three-day tournament continues tomorrow with four matches playing simultaneously countrywide. East Coast Demerara will clash with Upper Corentyne at Enterprise Busta Sport Club ground, West Demerara come up against East Bank at Everest Cricket Club ground, Lower Corentyne oppose Georgetown at Albion and Essequibo face West Berbice at Young Warriors Cricket Club ground.

During the first round of matches, Lower Corentyne and East Coast Demerara emerged victorious over Essequibo and West Demerara respectively, while the matches played between East Bank and Georgetown and West Berbice and Upper Corentyne ended prematurely due to persistent rainfall on the third and final day.
Jonathan Foo stroked an attractive 152 to be the leading run-scorer, while left-arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul had a match-haul of 10-80.
Left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie, leg-spinner Amir Khan and left-arm pacer Raymon Reifer, each claimed five-wicket haul in the opening round.
Meanwhile, Lower Corentyne lead the points standing with 19.4 points, followed by ECD (15.2), West Berbice (7), Upper Corentyne (6.4), East Bank (6.4), Georgetown (6.3), West Demerara (3.8) and Essequibo (3).
