A 29- YEAR-OLD fisherman was on Wednesday released on $50,000 bail by Magistrate Leron Daly for possession of cannabis sativa (marijuana).Trevor Hopkinson of Lot 241 West Ruimveldt is accused of having 47.2 grams of cannabis in his possession on August 5, at West Ruimveldt.

Hopkinson denied the allegation, while his attorney, Ronald Daniels requested that he be released on reasonable bail since the drugs were not found in his possession.

Daniels argued that his client was sitting on a bench along with several others in a shop at West Ruimveldt when police came and searched them. The lawyer disclosed that his client was searched and nothing was found in his possession. However, the ranks found a black bag with the drug nearby and claimed it belonged to his client.

The Magistrate transferred the matter to Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan for September 14.
