Dear Editor,

AMERICA is not just a name or a geographical fact; it’s the energy, spirit, determination, freedoms and responsibilities; respect, acceptance, innovation, charisma — all these and so much more of a land that inhibits limitless possibilities in almost every sphere of life. America, to me, represents that inner drive to inspire one’s self, which motivates and harnesses the power of people to do great things for great reasons.Whether it is practising one’s religion; coming up with cultural ideas; enjoying personal freedoms and the right to be heard; stamping out injustices against others, and not just paying lip service; respecting the rights and freedoms of cross-cultural boundaries; leading the way in education, health, science, technology, modern architecture; preserving the past, governing the people, enforcing its laws in fairness, and being the watchdog of the world, the great United States of America would always continue to shine as that beacon of hope, the light at the end of the tunnel. Its dreams will always be in sync with the hard efforts put in by those who toil day after day in all its states.

From the Empire State Building and Staten Island Ferry in NY to the Grand Canyon in the West; from the Statue of Liberty to the Washington Monument, America will ALWAYS be a nation that will succeed in all its endeavours, regardless of the naysayers and sourpusses who bad talk it every day.

I’m not American, but if America can, to such extent, excite someone outside its borders — a Guyanese, like I’m sure it does many others of various nationalities — then that country has been GREAT from the very start: when its founding fathers established its foundations of greatness and resilience.

That’s why, no matter what, America will ALWAYS be the greatest nation on this earth. The state of its union will get stronger and stronger with every passing year. God bless the United States of America! And a happy 240th!!
