THE West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Women’s 50-Over and T20 Regional tournaments have been confirmed to be played in Guyana from July 7 to July 25.
This publication understands that the 50-Over segment will be contested first. However, the final fixture is yet to be decided upon, since according to Territorial Development Officer (TDO) of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB), Colin Stuart, the current inclement weather is posing some difficulties regarding the readiness of the identified venues.
“The GCB is currently looking at various venues countrywide, since most of the grounds are not in good shape due to the current weather. However, there are other alternatives being put in place to ensure that these grounds are fully ready to facilitate Regional games,” Stuart said.
The former West Indies fast bowler said there are also special focuses on the pitches to ensure all are durable for the matches.
Barbados are the defending champions in the 50-Over segment after they crushed Jamaica by 124 runs.
