ST John’s College were unable to overcome the challenges of the Government Technical Institute (GTI) yesterday as the Digicel National Schools Football Championships continued.Playing at the Guyana Defence Force Camp Ayanganna, the Woolford Avenue-based side triumphed with their 4-0 drubbing of St John’s College.

Donte Yonnick in the 18th minute opened the scoring for the GTI side before the second goal came in the 29th after a successful shot from Emanuel Thomas.
Tafari Simon hammered the third nail in the coffin a minute later with the half ending 3-0 in favour of GTI.
In the second half of the game, Kevin James’ goal was the only goal scored, and it was for the GTI side.
Over at Tucville, it was a walkover as the Charlestown side could not find enough players and therefore gifted Sir Leon a pass to the next round.

Today’s matches will see Stewartville take on Windsor Forest at Leonora, Tutorial face Tagore at Skeldon, Bartica Secondary play Three Mile Secondary at Bartica, and New Campbellville and Lodge Secondary clash at the GFC ground. (Stephan Sookram)
