MARK Anthony Barclay has been remanded to prison for the alleged murder of Gordon Ross, who was fatally stabbed outside the White Castle Fish Shop on Hadfield Street, Georgetown on April 30.The 37-year-old Barclay, a construction worker of Houston Backstreet, East Bank Demerara, was not required to plead to the murder charge when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court, and
Police Prosecutor Inspector Neville Jeffers did not disclose the facts in court, since the file is incomplete.
Barclay’s matter has been adjourned to June 13.
According to reports, at about 1:40hrs on the day in question, there was a brawl between the two men outside the White Castle Fish Shop, and Ross was subsequently found with multiple stab wounds to his body and several of his teeth missing. He was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital by public-spirited persons, but succumbed while receiving medical treatment.
