A 23-YEAR-OLD Berbice resident was yesterday sentenced to two months’ imprisonment when he appeared before city magistrate Faith McGusty, charged with simple larceny.Ronel Frank, of No. 5 Village, West Coast Berbice, pleaded guilty to the charge which stated that, on March 4, 2016, at North Road, Sophia, he stole one Samsung Galaxy cell phone valued at $93,000, property of Samantha Allen.
The facts related to the court are that the defendant and the virtual complainant are relatives, and the defendant was spending some time at Allen’s residence. On the day in question, Allen went out and left her cell phone charging.
When she returned, she discovered her phone missing. She informed the police, and when Frank was searched the phone was recovered in his pants pocket.
