GUYANA’S largest horse-racing event, the Guyana Cup Fever, is billed for March 27 at the Rising Sun Turf Club. Organised by the Jumbo Jet Auto Sales and Racing Stables, seven races are on the cards with over $8M in cash, trophies and other incentives up for grabs.
According to the provisional programme, the feature event is for horses classified A1 and Lower for a winning take of $1.2M and a combined purse of $2.2M over 1400 metres.
The F1 and Lower event has a winning total prize of $1.1M with the winner set to receive $600 000 and a trophy.
There is an event for West Indies-bred three-year-old animals, for a total prize of $750 000 and a top prize of $400 000 and a trophy.
The G2 and Lower event has a combined purse of $750 000 with the top stable will receive $400 000 and a trophy.
The Guyana-bred three-year-olds will have their chance at competing for a total prize package of $575 000 and a trophy.
The event for H3 and Lower animals will be racing for a winning package of $250 000 and a trophy.
The final race for animals classified J1 and Lower will be for a total purse of $200,000
Further the organising committee reserves the right to cancel/reframe any race mentioned above.
In the event less than five (5) horses are entered for any event the committee reserves the right to cancel or reframe the said event or reduce the prize money after notifying the horse owners. Seven horses must start or no fourth prize will be paid.
The races will be held under the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority (GHRA).

The Guyana Cup Fever is the brainchild of Jumbo Jet Auto Sales, and has become the largest horse-racing event since its inaugural staging eight years ago.
