West Indies mystery spinner Sunil Narine showed off a remodeled action and grabbed two wickets during a 10-over spell for Queen’s Park against Clarke Road in the T&T local club league yesterday.Suspended from international cricket in December for a suspect bowling action, Narine is hoping to use his participation in the local competition to get comfortable with his adjusted action ahead of a crucial test in England, in February.
The test will be important for the spinner as he will need to be cleared by the ICC before joining up with the West Indies team ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup. By all accounts the performance of the spinner gave cause for assurance.
“Sunil looked good today in his comeback game. Everyone who saw him was happy with his outlook. National coaches Gus Logie and Kelvin Williams were both here looking at him and they were pleased. They were very happy with the fact that during his last few overs he got back his pace on the deliveries, so all in all it was a good day for him,” Parkites coach David Furlonge said.(Sportsmax.com)
