Tenelec Inc. U-15 cricket competition … Blairmont through to final

BLAIRMONT Community Centre created a big upset by beating the joint defending champions Albion Community Centre outright, to gain a place in the final of the Tenelec Inc. Under-15, two-innings cricket competition in Berbice.In the semi-final, Blairmont Community Centre won by an innings and 129 runs. Albion Community Centre, sent in to take first strike, lost an early wicket and had reached 18-1 after which Berbice Under-15 left-arm spinner Nigel Deodat got into the act and picked up three consecutive wickets to see them slide to 21-4.
After another wicket fell to off-spinner Adim Shewtahal, Deodat snapped up two more without conceding a run and they further slipped to 26-7. They were eventually bowled out for a paltry 34 with Deodat taking 5-2 and pacer Keon Gangoo 2-11 from eight overs.
When Blairmont replied in their first innings, they got a start of 43 from Berbice Under-15 batsman Javed Karim and Saheed Khan. After Khan fell for 20, Karim and Chandradat Veersammy proceeded to bury Albion by putting on 110 for the third wicket.
After Karim was dismissed for 76 (8×4, 2×6) and Veersammy for 54 (5×4, 1×6), Azad Isahack (44) and Adim Shewtahal (34) put on 65 for the sixth wicket hat helped Blairmont reach 262 all out. Bowling for Albion Community Centre, former Guyana Under-15 pacer Steven Kamaludin took 4-52 and Guyana Under-15 left-arm spinner Kelvin Umroa 2-36.
Facing a deficit of 228 runs, Albion in their second innings could muster only 99 all out with Jermain Pollard (23) and Azim Alli (21) being the top scorers.
Doing the damage this time for Blairmont were Adim Shewtahal who took 5-15 from 5.4 overs, Berbice Under-15 off-spinner Seon Glasgow Jr with 3-24 and Deodat 2-12. Deodat finished with bowling figures of 7-14 from nine overs.
