A VRYHEID’S Lust resident was yesterday sentenced to six months’ imprisonment by City Magistrate Alex Moore for stealing a Chinese National’s handbag on Christmas Eve.
John Harding pleaded guilty to the simple larceny charge which alleged that on Thursday, December 24, at Regent Street, Georgetown, he stole from the Wang Changmin Store one ladies’ handbag valued at $5000.
Previously convicted for a similar offence, Harding told the court he had intended to sell the bag to buy medication, as he was unwell. The fact that he is a repeat offender earned him the six-month sentence.
