A RESIDENT of Providence, East Bank Demerara is on the run after dousing his matrimonial home with gasoline and discharging a loaded firearm at his wife in an incident that reportedly occurred at about 18:05hrs yesterday during a heated argument that became blown out of proportion.Shawn Thompson and his reputed wife, Fiona, according to reports, lately moved into the neighbourhood, but have been arguing a lot lately over issues of infidelity. Neighbours say they were at it up to Christmas Day, when she confronted him about having an affair.

Not content with physically assaulting her, causing her to run out of the house in search of help, Thompson reportedly jumped into his car and went after her, attempting to run her over as she ran down the road. Neighbours say it was the third such time he’d done so since moving into the neighbourhood.

Things apparently came to a head again yesterday, as Thompson, after beating Fiona almost to a pulp and threatening to burn the house down with her inside, fired a loaded firearm behind her. Luckily for her, his aim was bad.

Neighbours say that although they had seen the whole incident, they were afraid to go to the woman’s aid for fear of being shot themselves.
Thompson, who reportedly always carries a gun, was later seen running away from the house; and after getting into his Toyota Carina 212, made good his escape before the police arrived on the scene.

When the police did arrive, Fiona was inside the house, which was a mess and was dripping gasoline. She was later taken away to the police station to assist with investigations.
