DESPITE financial constraints, the Guyana National Newspapers Limited (GNNL) yesterday expressed tangible appreciation to workers who excelled over the past year in their respective departments by awarding them cash incentives. This year, due to the commitment shown by the workers, management was tasked with electing two persons as Employees of the Year. Kimsel Gibbons and Yogeeta Sooklall were so elected, while Regina Paul was selected second runner-up.

Also receiving cash awards were Sarah Boyce, Yatesh Chowbay, Shelly Hall, Edward Jordan and Rawle Toney.

Speaking at the ceremony yesterday at the company’s Lama Avenue offices, Chairperson of the Board of Directors, Jean LaRose, called on staff to put their best feet forward in the new year, while congratulating those who had executed their work diligently and efficiently in order to become awardees.

Chairperson LaRose also noted that “despite the financial struggles to sustain the company, we were still able to execute all that came our way this year, especially when it came to the conclusion of 2015.”

LaRose said that both the board and management are working to adjust the financial constraints, so that there can be a better environment for employees.

Moreover, she said that with support from the staff, the board would be able to overcome the struggles and accomplish tasks they had set out to achieve.

Also congratulating the employees was Acting General Manager Mrs. Moshamie Ramotar, who encouraged them to work harder and to look forward to a better new year.
