65 year old remanded over nephew’s murder

A FATHER of 10 children, 65-year-old Dennis Husain, was remanded to prison yesterday until January 18 after he appeared at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court charged with the murder of his nephew. The accused was not required to plead to the indictable charge after it was read to him by the magistrate.
The court was told that on Sunday, December 27, Husain unlawfully murdered his nephew, 43-year-old Sheldon Richards at the man’s home at Supply, Mahaica, East Coast Demerara following an argument.
According to the facts presented to the court, the accused and the deceased were imbibing at the home and when Husain was getting ready to leave, Richards asked him if he wanted to fight.
Richards then reportedly picked up a rolling pin and lashed Husain, who allegedly whipped out a knife and stabbed him to the region of the heart and he collapsed on his bridge and died.
After the stabbing Richards was reportedly left lying on the bridge for some time before being rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
