The Guyana Police Force Traffic Department will later today announce several road closures in order to facilitate the funeral of NYPD officer Randolph Holder today from 0830hrs.While the body of the fallen cop is being viewed at the Merriman Funeral Home at Lime and Bent Streets traffic will be restricted from moving north into Lime and Bent Streets, restricted from travelling east into Bent and John Streets, restricted from heading west into Bent and Louisa Rowe and restricted from heading south into Lime and Hadfield Streets.
While the funeral service is ongoing at the Brickdam Cathedral, traffic flow will be restricted from heading south into Brickdam and Smyth Street, restricted from heading south into Pollard Place and Croal Street, restricted from heading north into Pollard Place and Hadfield Street, restricted from heading north into Bent Street and George Street, restricted from heading north into Hadfield and Bent Streets, restricted from heading west into Brickdam and United Place, restricted from heading south into Camp and Croal Street.
Once the service is completed, the funeral procession is likely to move along Brickdam to the Square of the Revolution that decision is tentative. If there is a stop there however, there will be other road closures before the body is taken into Le Repentire Cemetery.
If there is a procession at Cuffy traffic heading along Vlissengen road will have to turn east onto Homestretch or west onto Croal Street as they will not be allowed to go beyond the junction.
Additionally restrictions will be in effect to prevent the flow of traffic north into Hadfield Street and Vlissengen Road, restricted from going north at Durban Street and Vlissengen Road, restricted from heading north into Norton Street and Vlissengen road, restricted from going south along Princess Street and Cemetery Road and depending on how heavy the traffic flow or congestion is, the police will also close off the western section of Cemetery Road.
Randolph Holder is receiving a full military funeral today, sponsored by the Government of the United States of America through the New York Police Department. The Guyana Police Force is facilitating the process locally to ensure uninterrupted proceedings especially at the level of mobility for the many relatives of the fallen police officer and officers of the NYPD who are presently in Guyana.
