PELE got the first taste of victory in the inaugural GFF Stag Elite League last evening at the Leonora Sports Facility.They bagged their first three points with a 2-1 win over Georgetown Football Club (GFC).
Even though Pele were the stronger side, the defensive end was inconsistent which led to Pele causing more trouble than they should have.
Pele went ahead in the 38th minute when Deon Alfred scored. It was a controversial goal but Alfred survived a tight offside call when he received before finishing.
In the second half, Jermaine Somerset pushed Pele ahead in the 48th minute.
GFC had a wealth of chances in the final ten minutes of play but only managed to pull one back.
Up to press time the opening ceremony was about to commence. After that Guyana’s football Titans Alpha United and Slingerz FC brought the night to the close in the feature battle of the night.
