VERY few have the ability to dominate a class unblemished but Guyanese bike champion Stephen Vieira completed such a feat at the Super-stock class of the Caribbean Motor Racing Championships, Barbados leg last Sunday.
Vieira picked up two first-place finishes and one third en route to being crowned Champion Rider at the recent meet, adding, “I just put down my head and focus and go, from the get go, I just went fast.
He continued, “I know to myself that I have a better chance in the wet, I think I got more over them, so it was like I had more confidence than the other riders.”
Stephen, the eldest of the Vieira riding clan, was full of praise for his Guyanese competitors, who featured on each podium spot in all three races.
He added, “The Bajans are honestly stepping up their game and they are improving a lot. Honestly they are on par with us but we had a little bit of an edge Sunday. I hope by next year they can get even more competitive.”
Vieira completed a clean sweep of the CMRC super stock class crossing the line all three times in first place.
However, in Race 3, he was adjudged to have jumped the lights, thus he picked up a 5-second penalty which dropped him to third.
