Historic GT Beer Champs to be crowned tonight

THE curtain will come down on the GT Beer Futsal Tournament tonight when the inaugural champions are crowned after the final is contested at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH).Bent Street and Sparta Boss who both had an impressive run to the final will lock horns for the top prize of $500 000 and the GT Beer trophy. The runners-up of this event take home $250 000.
The undefeated Sparta Boss side are led by the experienced Travis Grant who has been the deciding factor in their five-win streak. He has been supported by Sheldon Shepherd and Eusi Phillips in the playmaking section.
On the other side, Bent Street have produced a different level of futsal since entering the final-eight. Bent Street’s goal tally entered double figures in consecutive matches. In the quarter-final stage Sophia were humbled 12-5 then Festival City were on the end of a 13-5 whipping in the semis.
The feature promises to be an intriguing one as both teams have repeatedly displayed immaculate futsal performances.
Prior to this showdown, West Front Road- Gold is Money are billed to take on Festival City in the third place match.
The team that emerge victorious will cart off $125 000 while the losers will have to settle for $75 000.
These two sides were also performing in the top bracket in the prelims and quarterfinals but were bettered by the finalists on Wednesday evening.
