PRESIDENT of the Guyana Volleyball Federation, John Flores, is billed to attend an International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) Congress in Peru where he is expected to make a presentation to have a facility constructed locally.The congress is being hosted to elect or re-elect the executive body of the World Federation.
According to Flores, the opportunity will be used to raise some issues that have been pending for quite some time, most of which deal with promises of developmental assistance.
Flores disclosed that the Federation has been working hard to get all aspects of the game to the level that applies to the top bracket in the South American continent.
He believes Guyana is cutting the gap on other South American countries slowly by using the Under-19s to be the driving force of both male and female national teams.
Meanwhile, a volleyball coach’s course wrapped up on Tuesday at the National Gymnasium with International Volleyball coach Julio Morales. It was a four-day event which began last Saturday.
Morales, a professor from the University of Texas, facilitated the course that concentrate d on young players’ development, to help students capture the full essence of sport as well as to further help boost the development of volleyball in Guyana.
