Four teams to face the axe tonight  in GT Beer  Futsal action

WITH just two days remaining before the crowning of the inaugural GT Beer Futsal Champions, the final eight teams in the tournament spring into action to secure a semi-final spot and move one step closer to the crown.The Cliff Anderson Sports Hall will host the Petra organised event which has a 19:00 hrs kick-off time as the undefeated Sophia side tackle Bent Street in the first quarter-final match.

Following that, West Front Road ‘Gold is Money’ will try shooting for gold against West Back Road from 19:45 hrs. This is billed to be an intriguing encounter since both these teams played undefeated throughout the preliminary rounds.

West Back Road topped Group D ahead of Bent Street while West Front Road finished as the runner up in Group C behind Sophia who had a superior goal difference.

The night culminates with the final battle for a fourth place between Albouystown and the impressive Festival City line-up.

Albouystown’s only defeat was to Sparta Boss in Group B while Festival City defeated Kitty Weavers, Queen Street Tiger Bay and Agricola on their way to topping Group A.

These Futsal units are competing for the top prize of $500,000 and the GT Beer Futsal Trophy, while the second, third and fourth place finishers will have to settle for $250, 000, $125, 000 and $75, 000, respectively.

Meanwhile, support continued for the event as Trophy Stall presented the trophies for the top teams during a simple ceremony that was conducted at its Bourda Market location on Friday.

Making the presentation on behalf of the entity was Devi Sunich, wife of Trophy Stall proprietor Ramesh Sunich, who handed over the trophies to Petra Co-Director, Troy Mendonca.

Mendonca in his response thanked Sunich for his support, adding that the relationship between the two parties dates back to years ago and remains strong to this day.

National Milling Company (NAMILCO) and Trophy Stall are the other sponsors on board.
