THE Mayor and City Council has embarked on a comprehensive plan to involve citizens in the revitalisation process of the city and will be doing so with a ‘Green Georgetown’ Volunteer Corps. According to the M&CC, this Corps is set to use various skills available within local communities to make Georgetown the greatest, cleanest city in the Caribbean.Town Clerk Royston King said that citizens will provide leadership in the various areas of environmental awareness and education, environmental counselling and guidance, cleaning and waste disposal, composting and other forms of solid waste control.
This information is expected to be filtered back to the local communities to encourage better environmental consciousness.
Citizens who are interested in playing a part in this Corps will be distinctively recognised with badges, special t-shirts, and other identifiable materials.  King advised that those citizens interested in the initiative are welcomed to the office of the Town Clerk at City Hall to be registered. Registration commences Wednesday, August 25, 2015.

The Town Clerk said his objective is to register at least 1,000 environmental leaders. He believes that with environmental advocates in local communities and with the right sense of support, positive changes will overtake current negatives in the City.

Register with the Georgetown Municipality to volunteer in the Green Georgetown Volunteer Corps, and make Georgetown a clean and green city.
