DEFENDING Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry (GBTI) women’s tennis champion, Nicola Ramdyhan, will play Afruica Gentle in this year’s ladies’ final. Last year Nicola played Shauna Gentle in the final and managed a win but this time around the baby sister has a shot at the title and revenge.
In the first semi, Ramdyhan made light work of the up-and-coming Kalyca Fraser 6/0, 6/2 while on Court 2, the other semi-final between Afruica Gentle and Carol Humphrey went ding-dong in a match that lasted over 2 hours.
Mark McDonald and Hemraj Resaul’s journey to the Men’s Doubles Open came to an end when Daniel Lopes and Nicholas Glasgow defeated them 6/2, 6/2.
In the other quarter-finals of the category, fans were delighted to see big server Nicholas Fenty team up with doubles partner, Leyland Leacock to beat, Stephen Bailey and Oswin Coggins 6-1, 6-1.
The win sets up a semi-final match against Nicholas Glasgow and Daniel Lopes.
