WILLIAM Baptiste, of Lot 62 East La Penitence Housing Scheme, Georgetown, was remanded to prison yesterday, by Magistrate Geeta Chandan-Edmond on a charge of unlawfully assaulting his nephew, Ojay Vallet.

He pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said, he committed it on Wednesday, March 19, at East La Penitence Housing Scheme.
Police Corporal Jomo Nichols, prosecuting, said, that day, the defendant became annoyed after the virtual complainant fell asleep and left on the television.
He started to use indecent language to Vallet and dealt him 10 lashes across his back with a cutlass, the prosecutor said, successfully objecting to bail, on the ground that both parties reside at the same address and, if granted pre-trial liberty, Baptiste may tamper with the witness.
The case was put off to April 14.
