Beres Hammond, John Legend arrive for ‘Night of Love Concert’

FANS are in a frenzy to get their last-minute tickets and even more so now that it has been confirmed that mega star John Legend and reggae sensation Beres Hammond have arrived for the much anticipated, “Night of Love Concert”, slated for tomorrow night at the National Stadium, Providence.At a press conference yesterday at the Fly Jamaica Airline headquarters, Ogle, John Legend was all excited at being in Guyana, promising media operatives that he was here to deliver a sterling performance and to have a good time.

Raving that he would be ending the show, Legend emphasised that Guyanese can look forward to a splendid show. He is also anxious to try the varied cuisine available in Guyana. This is something he always looks forward to wherever he travels.
On the question of his being so famous and when he first knew that he was going to be a popular figure, the artiste said that he first knew he was going to be popular when he got a call from Oprah Winfrey and Magic Johnson on the same day.
Beres Hammond, who has been in Guyana since Thursday, was unable to make an appearance at the Ogle press conference, but held a separate one at the Princess Hotel on the East Bank of Demerara.
Speaking at the press conference, Odinga Lumumba of Mc Neal Enterprises welcomed the international star, assuring the media that the show would be one of a lifetime.
Minister of Tourism, Irfaan Ali, welcomed the singer and assured that his ministry would give promoters full support on such ventures, with the aim of boosting tourism and making Guyana a number one tourist destination.
He assured that he would approach the Finance Minister to ensure that financial support is made available to promotional agencies in instances of ventures such as the “Night of Love Concert”.
CEO of Fly Jamaica Airline, Ronald Reece, extended a warm welcome to Legend, informing him that his company was pleased to be associated with the venture.
The show titled “Night of Love” has been publicised since 2013, and is a collaborative effort among the Ministry of Tourism, Mc Neal Enterprise and Hits and Jams Entertainment.
Fans still have a few hours to grab their tickets at King’s Jewellery World, Clairan’s Boutique, Nigel’s Supermarket, Ashmin’s Trading, Matt’s Record Bar, Gizmos and Gadgets, White Castle Fish Shop, Giftland Officemax, Electronic City, Andrew’s Supermarket, Dave’s Sports Bar, KK Gas Station, Little Rock Hotel, Digicel Speedtalk (Bartica) and Digicel CellSmart (Linden).
