At the time, the sexagenarian was on his routine daily jogging exercise, along J.B. Singh Road, Georgetown, in company with a woman, who was also hit by the vehicle, BGG 4671.
The woman was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) and sent for immediate medical attention, including a CT scan.
Boodhoo, now self-employed as the country representative for two international book publishers, was once an employee of the State Planning Secretariat and would, from time to time, advise the Alliance for Change on (AFC) financial issues, being an economist by profession.
Speaking to the Guyana Chronicle, in a room her husband once used as his office, Mrs. Mahadai Boodhoo said that she was at home cooking, as usual, when she got the sad news, at around 05:45hrs, from a family friend who informed her of the tragedy.

The woman said she, immediately, called a taxi and telephoned a few friends as she rushed down to the accident scene.
According to her, when she arrived at the location, the man and his companion had already been taken to the hospital.
The widowed woman said she expected to see her husband with bruises and a broken limb, but when she arrived at the GPHC, he was dead and the other woman was in the emergency room receiving medical attention.

SUDDENLY GONE
Mrs. Boodhoo said her husband had so much planned for her and now he is suddenly gone. She said he had been out for three days and only returned on Thursday afternoon.
She said that she was getting a very strange feeling recently and thought that it was associated with her husband’s long distance travel to Linden to where he drove.
She explained that she never anticipated that he would have been killed or died in such a tragic manner. She was making his breakfast when he met his death.
The couple has been living at the Alberttown address for 32 years.
Mrs. Boodhoo said, when she arrived at the Police Station, the driver of the vehicle that hit her husband was sitting on a bench in custody. She said she felt like grabbing the young man and accusing him of taking her husband from her.
She said, based on her observation with respect to the damage to the vehicle, she is convinced that the driver was speeding when the accident occurred.
The widow said her husband got into the habit of morning jogging since 1996 and never stopped until he was forced to, involuntarily, due to his unfortunate and untimely demise.
She said their only child, a 32-year-old woman, who lives abroad, will be arriving home in the coming week for the funeral, which would precede his requested cremation on the West Coast Demerara.
Talking while, occasionally, taking phone calls of sympathy from relatives, friends and others who sought to confirm news of the fatality, Mrs. Boodhoo often broke down into tears as she recalled the various promises her husband made to her, some as recent as earlier this week.
Incidentally, among the man’s customers who would purchase books from him was Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of GPL Bharrat Dindyal.
Yesterday afternoon, Leader of the Alliance for Change (AFC), Mr. Khemraj Ramjattan went to the couple’s home to offer his condolences to the widow of the party’s adviser on financial matters.
