16TH TROY HUMPHREY MEMORIAL – Race programme around Seawall Bandstand today

CYCLISTS are gearing up for one of the most lucrative cycle races, the 16th annual Troy Humphrey Memorial Cycle Meet which will be hosted at the Seawall Bandstand today, with eight races carded for the day’s activity.

According to a release from the host Club, Roraima Bikers Club (RBC) of which the late Troy Humphrey was a member, all categories of riders are catered for and they are looking forward to an entertaining day of cycling.
Ever since his death, the Humphrey’s family and in particular his father George Humphrey, the Managing Director of Humphrey’s Bakery and Farm Products, has been hosting a race meet aimed at keeping his son’s memory alive.
Today’s action which pedals off at 10:00hrs, will certainly be another chapter in the ongoing book of the Troy Humphrey Memorial Race Meet, which over the years has attracted the Crème de la Crème of cyclists in Guyana, whether it is hosted around the inner circuit of the National Park, or at today’s venue.
Following are the events carded for the day which will also have lucrative cash prizes at stake:
BMX Open (3 Laps); Mountain Bikes (5 Laps); Veterans Under-50 (6 Laps); Veterans Over-50 (6 Laps); Team Time Trials (4 Laps); Females (5 laps); Junior/Juvenile (20 Laps) and the feature event Category 1-4 (30 Laps).
Last year’s event held in the National Park took the form of an 11-race programme, with Linden’s Rastaff O’Selmo winning the feature 25-lap School Boys and Invitational.
