Want to figure it out for myself

I AM slowly entering the twilight years of my life; I can never be 60 or 30 years again. I will either be referred to as a born-again Christian who believes in the rapture, or I will go to sleep on my grave. But before any of the two scenarios plays out in my short stay on this earth, could someone help me to “figure it out.”

Where is the oil Mr. L.F.S. Burnham spoke of 40 years ago?
Nevertheless, I look ahead with deep optimism, believing that Guyana will strike it rich or rather hit an oilfield sometime soon. I remember over 10 years ago a CGX OIL RIG was booted off the Corentyne River by the Surinamese gun boat; now of recent I read of a Venezuelan military boat detaining an American ship scanning the ocean bed in the hope of finding oil deposits. Why are we finding it so difficult to locate oil in the Co-operative Republic of Guyana?
Or I should ask another question: why are our neighbours seeking to prevent us from moving on economically in the quest to boost our progress as a nation?
Is it because they—the Surinamese and the Venezuelan authorities discern that our political make-up is fragile and vulnerable to international abuse and bullyism?
I would want to figure it out for myself before I leave on my eternal journey!
