Firetruck slightly damaged after skidding off road at Diamond

FIRE Chief, Marlon Gentle yesterday said that one of their firetrucks was responding to a non-fire emergency and was on its way to 19th Street, Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara, when it skidded off the road, struck a pole and ended up in a small drain. According to Gentle, the firetender came to a standstill in a small drain at Diamomd Public Road as a result of the mishap. The vehicle was slightly damaged after it came to rest on its side and repairs will be effected so that it will be in working order in a day’s time.
Gentle said that the incident happened at about 10am and the road was wet, causing the vehicle to skid off the roadway.
As a result, the windscreen and the lights of the vehicle were damaged but no one was injured in the mishap yesterday.
