Rain forces abandonment of GTM Under-19 first day’s play

OVERNIGHT and early morning rain, yesterday prevented any play on the first day of both final-round matches in this year’s Guyana Cricket Board/GTM Under-19 Inter-County three-day tournament.

At the Georgetown Cricket Club ground where defending champions GT&T Berbice and point leaders Demerara were scheduled to meet – and not at the Wales Community Centre ground as was previously mentioned – play was called off way before the lunch period, due to the unfit condition of the ground.
Further up the street and at the Demerara Cricket Club ground where Essequibo and the President’s XI were scheduled to do battle, play was called off after the lunch break, but the players were forced to wait a lengthy period for their meal.
Weather permitting, both matches are set to commence at 09:30hrs today.
