AS one, who was instrumental in making the coming of the Dental Boat to the Pomeroon River a reality, I wish to inform the critics that the boat is operational and serving the upper and Lower Pomeroon residents in the field of dentistry.

What is more advisable is that a full-time team be stationed on the boat since the amount of schools situated in the entire Pomeroon cannot be easily serviced in a day, thus causing a touch- and-go effect.
Dentistry is a scientific field of medicine which needs follow up on patients’ treatment. The Ministry of Health is training a lot of dentex who can fill this gap. Also, the University of Guyana is training dentists now.
Essequibo Coast and the Pomeroon River along with all the Amerindian communities cannot be supervised by one dental surgeon. I am willing to help make out an itinerary for the dental programme for Region # 2.
Dental visits in the schools need to be activated and the lone TV station needs to be used to educate people of the care and food needed to help prevent dental diseases.
It’s time something is done to catalyze our dental programme in Essequibo for the population is growing and people need to be taken care of and be educated also.
