Plastic City man remanded over stepdaughter murder

FITZ Randolph Josiah, who is accused of the murder of his stepdaughter, was yesterday remanded to prison when he appeared before Magistrate Sherdell Isaacs-Marcus at the Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrate’s Court, West Coast Demerara. Police reported that Josiah, 63, of Best Foreshore, also on the West Coast Demerara, stabbed his stepdaughter more than 21 times to the body. He was yesterday charged with murder committed on Finella Samuels, 14, of the same address on April 24, 2013.
The file was sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice, while the accused was remanded to prison until May 31, 2013.
Josiah was arrested the day after the incident by residents who spotted him at New Road, Vreed-en-Hoop, where he was beaten before he was handed over to the police.

He reportedly fled the scene after he brutally knifed his stepdaughter to death in her bedroom during a heated quarrel.
The 14-year-old succumbed at the West Demerara Regional Hospital (WDRH) after she was rushed there by neighbours, who responded to her mother’s cry for help.
After Josiah reportedly launched the vicious knife assault on the hapless teen, her mother Mildred Rose   tried to intervene on her daughter’s behalf, but was injured and just managed to escape with her nine-year-old son.
