Guyana among seven countries confirmed for Regional Basketball C/SHIP …..host country T&T yet to be confirmed

WITH Trinidad and Tobago still to be confirmed as the hosts for this year’s Senior Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC) Championships for male and female players, and no word coming out of the Regional governing body indicating an official host, the Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF ) has issued its written intention which was sent to the CBC in keeping with an ultimatum for such before  March 31.
Guyana issued their intent to participate on March 27 and is among a possible

seven countries which are expected to send both male and female teams to this year’s CBC Senior Championships.
Information reaching Chronicle Sport is that while Guyana has signaled its intention to send both male and female teams to the assumed host country, Trinidad and Tobago, the authorities at the CBC level are still awaiting word from the Trinidad and Tobago Basketball Federation on their hosting the championships.
Following the CBC’s Annual General Meeting earlier this year in the Twin-Island Republic, it was proposed by the TTBF to host this year’s championships, but is awaiting word from the Trinidad and Tobago government for its blessings and support.
This was later put on hold until after the annual festivities of Carnival but since then no word has come confirming  the TTBF’s necessary government backing to stage the championships.
The Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation has joined other sister federations who have given their confirmation to attend  the CBC including Antigua and Barbuda, the Bahamas, Barbados, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, US Virgin Islands along with intended hosts Trinidad and Tobago.
The deadline for the issuance of formal notice to participate in this year’s championship was Sunday, March 31, 2013 and the tournament is slated for the first week in July.
