TAAMOG calls on Sydney Allicock to apologise publicly or resign

THE Amerindian Action Movement of Guyana (TAAMOG) is calling on APNU’s MP Sydney Allicock to quickly issue an apology statement in Parliament to the Amerindian communities of the Rupununi region for calling the Rupununi, “the most backward place in the Caribbean.” This statement by the APNU MP is most backward which has certainly hurt the indigenous communities of the Rupununi who are currently engaged in the development processes of their communities.

For the APNU MP to simply say, “I am sorry” to Kumu’s Senior Councillor Emeric Francis at a picketing demonstration at the Lethem Airstrip which greeted an APNU team led by Opposition Leader David Granger is totally inadequate and unsatisfactory.
TAAMOG is also calling on the Rupununi Amerindians to stand firm by not permitting Sydney Allicock and by extension other Members of Parliament belonging to APNU entry into their villages and communities until an apology statement is given to them in Parliament by Sydney Allicock.
TAAMOG firmly believes that if APNU’S MP Sydney Allicock is unable to give a public apology for his hostile statement made against the Amerindian communities of Region 9 in our Parliament he should immediately resign.
