KINGSTON, Jamaica, (CMC) – Trinidad and Tobago were facing a battle to stay in contention in their sixth round match in the Regional Four-Day Championship, after half-centuries from opener Brenton Parchment and captain Tamar Lambert put Jamaica in firm control here yesterday.

Playing on the second day of the Sabina Park contest, Parchment stroked an unbeaten 60 and Lambert, 51, as Jamaica cruised to 184 for four at the close, an overall lead of 210.
Earlier, T&T crumbled to 121 all out in their first innings, to concede a lead of 26. Starting the day on 36 for one, the visitors were undermined by left-arm seamer Sheldon Cotterell who snared five for 43 and seamer David Bernard Jr who finished with three for 18.
Andrew Richardson claimed two for 29.
Opener Lendl Simmons, not out 25 overnight, top scored with 39 while Rayad Emrit chipped in with 29.
There was no sign of a T&T collapse when they advanced nicely in the morning session to 58 for no further no loss, with Simmons and Kjorn Ottley going nicely.
Simmons struck four fours and two sixes in an innings that lasted 51 balls and 98 minutes while Ottley faced 20 deliveries and hit a single boundary.
They raised the fifty partnership off just 59 balls before things suddenly fell apart, as T&T astonishingly lost five wickets for two runs.
Bernard removed Ottley and Simmons in the space of three balls with just one run added and followed up with the wicket of captain Denesh Ramdin without scoring in his next over.
Cotterell then knocked over Jason Mohammed for seven and Imran Khan for four, to leave T&T tottering on 60 for six.
Emrit and Yannic Cariah (19) rebuilt through a 58-run, seventh wicket partnership, which took the Trinidadians to lunch at 116 for six.
However, once Emrit was bowled by Richardson with two runs added after the interval, Trinidad lost their last four wickets for three runs, with Cotterell doing the damage.
Jamaica were set back early with the loss of Danza Hyatt for seven at nine for one but Parchment and Nkrumah Bonner (31) put on 56 to stabilise the innings.
Parchment has so far faced 170 balls in 219 minutes and struck seven fours and a six while Bonner counted four boundaries off 48 balls.
When Bonner and then Jermaine Blackwood (18) fell to leave Jamaica on 92 for three, the hosts killed off any hopes of a T&T fightback with a 87-run, fourth wicket stand between Parchment and Lambert, who hit five fours and two sixes off 73 balls in 109 minutes at the crease.
