Guyana’s media professionalism has taken another severe dent

ONCE again, but not surprising, Guyana’s media professionalism has taken another severe dent.

That well-known publishing house, the Kaieteur News, that has established a dark reputation for misrepresentation and misinformation, unparalleled anywhere, has committed another act of slander against the persons of two outstanding, eminent gentlemen of international repute – former President Dr Bharrat Jagdeo, and Mr. Erik Solheim, former Minister of the Environment and International Development of Norway.
There can be no excuse on the part of this daily tabloid for this latest act, which is absolutely deliberate, spiteful, and driven by sinister motives of anti-nationalism.
Led by what is now an openly, clear  political agenda, for itself, and on behalf of the political opposition, this publishing house is definitely the chief media lead in its quest of trying to denigrate all the great work that the PPP/C government would have done, since 1993.
Well no one can blame this independent news media for doing what it does best and that is to lie on behalf of opposition.
The Government is too soft of these blatant and wanton matters in hopes that the people behind this will turn a new page overnight.
The Government must understand this will not be turned around at any given time until opposition objectives are met and that is to have this PPP/C Government be removed from office.
The last two incidents at Linden and Agricola recently should tell this government that the time has come for serious and deadly action to stop this opposition dead in its track.
Why you think these very people are fighting down this Government for Radio and TV license?
If you cannot stop one newspaper think about how you intend on stopping those with radio and TV.
