GDF data base for applications shows no ‘Kishan Ganesh’

THE Guyana Defence Force (GDF) on Wednesday night responded to the publication of a letter in the February 20, 2013 edition of Kaieteur News, purportedly written by one Kishan Ganesh, who claims to have been rejected for admission to the Force’s Standard Officers’ Course.

The GDF said in a press statement that applicants who fit their stated criteria are shortlisted and a reliable database created. However,  checks with this data base have revealed that none of the applications received bore the name “Kishan Ganesh”, the release noted.
The GDF said further that despite calls for written applications, many interested persons appear at the Army Headquarters and their queries are addressed. “Some present documentation while others verbalise their qualifications as a means of trying to determine their eligibility; it is unclear whether Mr. Ganesh was part of this informal approach,” the GDF noted.
It also stressed that the Chief of Staff, nor any Officer authorised to sign for the Chief of Staff, has not dispatched any letters of rejection to any of the candidates who did not meet the requirements.
